How to remove coffee stains from fabrics
Coffee stains on cotton
If coffee is spilled on cotton clothing, act as soon as possible. If the coffee stain is fresh, just put the cotton garment in a sink and pour boiling water and a few drops of hydrogen peroxide over it.If the stain has been there for a while, you can try dabbing the stain with a gentle soap and then with ammonia and alcohol mixed together.
Coffee stains on jeans
To get rid of coffee stains on jeans you have two solutions:
- Mix seltzer water with a teaspoon of salt and apply it directly on the coffee stain, leaving it to act overnight. The next day, wash your jeans normally.
- The second solution is to mix an egg yolk with hot water and a few drops of alcohol. Apply the solution to the coffee stain, leave for 15-20 minutes and wash the jeans.
Coffee stains on the wool
To remove coffee from a wool garment, the main rule is not to rub! Leave the garment to soak in a sink of hot water and two cups of apple cider vinegar overnight. The next day the stain will be gone.
Coffee stains on linen and silk
To remove these fabrics, first wet them with cold water and then use warm soapy water.
Coffee stains on the wall
To remove coffee stains from the wall, apply some lemon juice and leave it for an hour. Then wash the wall with Marseille soap (or another natural and biodegradable soap) and then with hot water and rinse again with the latter only.
Coffee stains on the sofa
When it comes to coffee stains on the sofa, speed is everything! First of all dab the coffee as much as possible, then act according to the fabric of the sofa:
- Cotton sofa: use a solution of seltzer water and glycerin soap if the stain is fresh. Otherwise, use Marseille soap.
- Leather or eco-leather sofa: your allies are milk or marseille soap of your choice and always if the stain is fresh. If it is not, you will first need to soften it with hot water.
- Velvet sofa: in this case, just use dish soap and warm water.
Coffee stains on the carpet
To remove coffee stains from carpets and rugs you can try to rinse with carbonated water or warm water more than once. If this is not enough, try a solution of alcohol and vinegar mixed in equal parts.
