The Chemex brew method is a popular and elegant way to make coffee that produces a clean and flavorful cup. It involves using a special glass vessel called a Chemex, which resembles an hourglass shape

1. Begin the process, using freshly ground coffee beans, a kettle with hot water (around 195-205°F or 90-96°C), a timer and a scale (for grams).

2. Heat up the water in the kettle and while the water is heating, place the paper filter in the top part of the Chemex brewer (the triple-folded side should be facing the spout); rinse the filter with hot water to remove any paper taste and warm up the vessel, then discard the water.

3. Grind your coffee beans to a medium-coarse and add the ground coffee to the filter in the Chemex. The recommended coffee-to-water ratio is 1:15 or 1:16, meaning 1 gram of coffee per 15-16 grams (or milliliters) of water. You can adjust the ratio according to your taste preferences.

4. Once the water is heated, start the brewing process by pouring a small amount of water to evenly wet the coffee bed, allowing them to bloom for about 30 seconds. This initial pour saturates the coffee and allows it to release carbon dioxide. After the bloom, begin pouring the rest of the water in a slow, steady circular motion, working your way from the center outward.  Pour in intervals to allow the water to filter through the coffee bed.

5. This process typically takes about 3-4 minutes. After that, remove the filter and discard it; pour the coffee in the cup and enjoy it!
