The French press brew method is a popular and straightforward way to make rich and full-bodied coffee.

1. Start with fresh, coarsely ground coffee: The French press requires a coarse grind to prevent sediment from escaping through the filter. Use a burr grinder or purchase pre-ground coffee labeled specifically for French press brewing.

2. Preheat the French press to warm up the glass or stainless-steel carafe of the French press by rinsing it with hot water. Add coffee grounds using a ratio of approximately 1:15 (1 part coffee to 15 parts water) and adjust based on your preferences.

3. Use water to just below the boiling point (around 195-205°F or 90-96°C) and pour it over the coffee grounds in the French press, saturating them evenly. Start a timer, after 2 minutes give the coffee and water mixture a gentle stir with a long spoon to ensure even extraction. Place the plunger lid on top of the French press, but do not press it down. Allow the coffee to steep for about 4 minutes.

4. After the steeping time, slowly press the plunger down, using even pressure. Pour the freshly brewed coffee into your cup or mug, and savor the flavors of the rich and aromatic beverage. It's recommended to serve the coffee immediately after brewing to prevent it from over-extracting and becoming bitter.

Remember, the French press brew method allows more oils and sediment to pass through the filter, resulting in a full-bodied and robust cup of coffee. However, it's important to note that some sediment may settle at the bottom of your cup. If you prefer a cleaner cup, you can pour the brewed coffee through a paper filter or use a finer mesh filter when pressing the plunger.
