For the roasting stage, Caffè Borbone production plant in Caivano uses efficient roasters powered by gas or LPG, one of the fuels with the lowest carbon footprint.
Furthermore, since 2022, the plant has used exclusively renewable electricity, through self-production, dedicated supply contracts or the purchase of certificates of origin guarantee. Two photovoltaic systems are active at the plant (total installed power 550 kW). The largest (500 kW), which went into operation at the beginning of 2023, is entirely dedicated to self-consumption and is capable of producing around 15% of electricity needs. In June 2023, construction began on a new area of the plant which also includes the construction of a 1000 kW photovoltaic system, entirely dedicated to self-consumption.
